Who We Are
Matthew Harrison, CFA, CFP®
CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER
Matthew is proud to have founded Harrison Wealth Management with the mission of helping people with their financial goals through planning, investing, and innovative thinking. After graduating from The University of Arizona, Matthew began his career as a stock analyst at a well-known hedge fund in San Diego. He gained valuable experience working with some of the smartest investors in the industry and world leaders in corporate governance. In 2005, Matthew made a shift to pursue his true passion – helping individuals directly. He spent the next several years further developing his portfolio management skills working at The Northern Trust Company and M&I Wealth Management. During his time at both institutions, Matthew worked closely with many individuals, families, nonprofits, foundations, and pension plans ranging from the newly retired to the complex business owner. While the institutional trust approach had adequate risk management, it fell short in many other areas and too often operational efficiencies and profits were placed ahead of what was best for the client. Striving to build something better, he joined RMH Investment Management as co-Principal until September 2016 and then founded Harrison Wealth Management.
Honored to give back to the program that provided his education, Matthew taught Applied Portfolio Management to graduate and under-graduate students at The University of Arizona for four years and remains a frequent guest lecturer. He is on the Board of Trustees and Investment Committee for the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona and the Finance Committee for Archaeology Southwest. Matthew and his family (wife, Serene and daughters, Belle and Kierra) are longtime Tucson residents and enjoy family participation in the community as well as supporting the lives of pediatric cancer patients, a cause close to them. To learn more about these efforts, see Belle’s Angels.
Shelleigh is excited to be part of the founding team at Harrison Wealth Management and to continue working alongside her long-time colleague and friend, Matthew Harrison. Together they share a strong team approach and a true passion for working with clients and their families. Previously, she represented the client administration side of RMH Investment Management, a Tucson firm formerly headed by Matthew and another partner. There Shelleigh worked directly with clients and with the firm’s Custodian to improve productivity and streamline operations. This experience also allowed Shelleigh to enhance and expand upon her knowledge of front and back office duties of an RIA firm.
Shelleigh continuously leverages her fourteen-year career as a trust officer with The Northern Trust Company, where her strong sense of integrity and fiduciary oversight was highly respected and well-regarded. Her extensive knowledge of Trust, Retirement and Estate Administration is a vital resource available to assist clients manage where they are and where they want to get to. Her skill set complements perfectly with the investment planning oversight provided by Matthew. Her attention to detail and compassionate approach is the cornerstone to her success and continues to provide Shelleigh with the unique experience she was seeking in leaving the corporate environment.
While her work brings her great joy, Shelleigh is equally blessed to work from a fully integrated home office which allows her to be flexible and participate in her four grandchildren’s school and sporting events during the year. Recent empty nesters, Shelleigh and her husband, Jon, love spending time outdoors and frequently head north to the family’s cabin with their three dogs.
